Re: New forums - YOU FOUND IT!

Good idea. People might think the game is inactive from how little the forums are used, but much of the activity has shifted to Discord.

Re: Broken Crafts

That's true, but it uses the object sampling system that lets you run the craft 5 times before the copse object automatically becomes the stripped of simples item. The simples object shouldn't be loaded by the craft manually at the end of each run. That's automatically handled when the copse runs ou...

Re: Trust

A good example would be a longsword with greatsword damage that was about recently. I hadn't heard of this one, but someone, I think TwitchyWeasel mentioned something like that way earlier in this thread. You use past tense: did Icarus/Anc fix it in a review or do you believe the problem to still b...

Re: Trust

Also you haven't got back to me about that uncraftable staff gear that is still IG, Nim. I think Nimrod addressed this when he said that sometimes items are built (easy) in advance of making full crafts for them (harder). I think the real concern is what I'm going to say below about the items that ...

Re: Rolling VS.

It's actually a little different than I recall the original roll VS code in SOI, because I don't remember having difficulty classes last time. This time you can set your difficulty for the task you're rolling to determine: veryeasy easy medium hard veryhard We used some rolls for the wrestling conte...

Re: Is it time to consolidate?

If you're talking about the Dark Side, they have regularly scheduled RPTs, I believe on Monday nights. Someone could probably post that info for you. They tend to only come around for those in large numbers, for whatever reason, but when they do, they're well attended.

Super quick.

Fix is implemented and tested, and since the port was quiet, rebooted and made it live.

Enjoy.

Re: Direction Order

The only challenge here is that each exit direction is represented by an underlying number, and when the new directions were added, they were added at the end. That's why you see them after the original NESW instead of integrated as you say. They're saved in the world files as numbers, so if we re-o...

What if they, say

Re: Webpage Weirdness

It's my workaround for firewalls. You can direct your client to port 80 instead of 4500 in case 4500 is blocked. Apparently your browsers don't default to prefixing www like my chrome does, since I had to put effort into going to the non-www version of the URL (manually typing http://middle...etc).

Or! Or. We could stop +1ing. Standarization. It's worked in the past. It works now. Oh, but Grommit said, "that's boring". But you know, how do you make a game not boring? Interesting plots? Plots at all? Interesting characters? Mysteries in the game world waiting to be discovered? Standardization ...

Re: New Races, Balance, and Lore

I don't see why the core protectiveness is a sacred cow. There's a quote from the Venture Brothers that goes something like: "If you throw a rock, the Guild throws a knife. If you throw a knife, the Guild kills your family." If you start giving someone armor that has a higher AC, you're going to ha...

Some people might be ahead of you for reasons I listed (having more than one account each with a very long-played PC), but it's pretty close to accurate.

Re: New Races, Balance, and Lore

4RPP Mewlips and 5RPP Boldog for Team Evil. Fill in the canonical gaps to give Team Evil actual equivalents (ETA: that are more unique than just 'better orc', etc). Wargs are definitely a work-in-progress in terms of balancing, but they're a nice step in this direction. Though, seriously, be carefu...

Re: New Races, Balance, and Lore

It's been said/asked, in two specific ways, that you don't make Dwarves better: armor-class and damage. Nobody's asking for humans to craft IDENTICAL gear to dwarves/elves, just that in damage/armor-class, it isn't better. Make it better in other ways. Be creative. Use the fact that reduced weight/...

363rd. Enjoy having had a life.

The density graphs were the worst. The top people spend 30-40% PER WEEK EACH WEEK FOR THE PAST YEAR average online. Granted I'm sure some idling was involved, but dang.
